Why should I do that?
Separation - All your messages from the dating site will be separate from the rest of your normal e-mail messages. This can be beneficial for a few reasons:

So by having an alternate e-mail address, such as MSN Hotmail, you can virtually eliminate all of these concerns!!!
1) Anti-virus - Built into MSN Hotmail (and other e-mail services such as Yahoo and Netscape), they automatically scan each of your messages for any known viruses. The virus programs they use are constantly updated to include all of the newest identified virus strains. So by using one of these services, you can rest assured that opening an e-mail message will not cause any harm to your computer.
2) Anti-Spam - MSN Hotmail (and other e-mail services such as Yahoo and Netscape) all have the option of using their built-in software that will automatically check each message to determine whether or not it's a legitimate message or if it's spam, and can either automatically delete the messages which it determines are spam, or send them to a different folder for you to manually check yourself before deleting.
3) Blocking unwanted replies and messages - MSN Hotmail also has the option of enabling multiple built-in filters that can screen your messages, depending on whatever criteria you wish to filter by.
Let's say for example for you are an attractive female and you wish to post an ad. But you are concerned that every idiot guy out there will just see your picture and send you a ridiculous (or possibly even rude or obscene) reply, without ever even reading your ad. With a regular e-mail address, that is a very valid concern, and you could get literally thousand of garbage replies a day; and further with so much junk, you may never even find the handful of the actual good desirable replies. But by using the e-mail filters, you can avoid that by setting up key words and/or phrases that either must be present (and/or cannot be present) in the subject line and/or message body before being delivered to your inbox. For example, let's suppose you are a bookish accountant who likes cats and reading romance novels, but who wants to try new more adventurous things like sky diving and going to see heavy metal concerts. And you are looking for a guy who is athletic and doesn't have a dog. So you could set up a message body filter to reject any messages that contains the word "dog" or "dogs", and another filter that also rejects any messages that do not contain either word "athletic" or the phrase "sky diving" or "heavy metal". You can even further make sure that they did read your whole message by writing specific instructions in your ad, such as telling them they must include a certain word or phrase in the subject line. Then you can set up another filter that rejects any messages that do not contain that word or phrase in the subject line.
So for all of the above reasons, using an alternate e-mail account that has anti-virus, anti-spam, and message filtering capabilities will be the best possible way to ensure that you will only receive safe, virus-free messages that are not spam and are not from undesirables whom didn't even read your ad.
Disposability - By using one of these free e-mail accounts, it easily disposable once it's no longer needed. (i.e once you find your perfect match) Most of these services will automatically close the account after 30 days of inactivity. This will allow you to easily take your ad down without any affect on your regular e-mail address..
